The American Diabetes
Association Camp Carefree
staff is composed of the Director, Program Director, Waterfront Director,
counselors, nutritionists, volunteer medical personnel, and program
specialists. Many counselors and CITs have diabetes and act as teachers
and role models for the campers. They are best able to use the teachable
moment - the unexpected opportunity- to show campers how to better manage
diabetes. At least one physician and one registered nurse are in residence
at all times, providing round-the-clock medical care and supervision.
