To carry out
pre-camp training in conjunction with Medical Coordinator and Camp
Director. |

To clarify and
educate the counselors of the role and responsibilities of the CITs. |

To clearly
differentiate the medical responsibilities of CITs vs. counselors (NO
HANDS ON). |
 |
To conduct
on-going diabetes education sessions as needed throughout the camp
session; topics to be determined based on assessed need through
individual and group discussions. |
 |
To assist CITs in
the management and daily requirements of running the Camp Trading
Post; use the opportunity to instill and assess levels of
responsibility. |
 |
Maintain an
excellent control of own diabetes and/or demonstrate a knowledgeable
understanding of how diabetes impacts the role of a counselor with and
without diabetes. |
 |
Provide mid-camp
and end-of-camp CIT evaluations. Share with CITs before the end of
camp. |
 |
Do/assist with
medical out-take of each CIT and share with parents information on
their CIT experience. |
 |
Make
recommendations for CITs to become Counselors in the future at
post-camp key staff meeting. |
 |
Implement the
nationwide CIT Curriculum as it becomes available. In the meantime,
anticipate its content and initiate as much as possible to enable camp
to remain a leader in this area. |
