Cabin Leader (desc)

JOB DESCRIPTION

QUALIFICATIONS
bullet

Minimum 20 years of age.

bullet

year leadership experience in organized camping at ADA Camp Carefree.

bullet

Ability to delegate cabin responsibilities and tasks, communicate effectively, and facilitate cabin activities.

bullet

Must meet all counselor qualifications as described in Overall Staff Profile.

bullet

Certifications in CPR and SFA preferred.

 

RESPONSIBLE TO

Team Leaders and Medical Coordinator

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
bullet

Work to motivate, assist and guide cabin co-counselors and CITs (if applicable) at all times to provide a positive experience for all the campers in the cabin.

bullet

Act as a liaison between cabin staff and Team Leaders/Administration.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
bullet

Communicate concerns and questions to Team Leaders.

bullet

Communicate medical concerns and have information ready to give medical staff monitoring the cabin.

bullet

Coordinate with CITs for testing and reaction supplies.

bullet

See that the temperature of the cabin refrigerator is checked and recorded on temperature sheets every day during rest hour and ensure temperature is within specified range.

bullet

Meet with Team Leaders, Camp Director, Medical Coordinator or Program Director when necessary to keep communication lines open.

bullet

Perform all other counselor duties as described in Counselor Job Description.

bullet

Ensure that all cabin paperwork and supplies have been handed in by the predetermined deadlines during and after camp.

bullet

Demonstrate/model desired Counselor behavior to encourage positive growth; mentor cabin Counselors, especially new Counselors.  Leadership should be constructive, not destructive.  Meet together on a regular basis during camp and document same.

bullet

Ensure smooth and efficient operation of cabin, including camper preparation for special events (Bass Fishing Day, Circle of Sharing, Camper Show, etc.).

bullet

Work to establish a solid team of Counselors; distribute work load evenly.

bullet

Be attentive to the health and well-being of all the Counselors, including yourself.

bullet

Set the standard for how the cabin is going to run.

bullet

Be willing to meet the Saturday before camp begins, help facilitate Pre-Camp activities, and attend a yearly off-season Cabin Leader Meeting.
