QUALIFICATIONS |
 |
Registered Dietitian licensed to
practice in the State of New Hampshire. |
 |
At least 1 year experience working
with children who have Type 1 Diabetes or I year experience in
pediatric nutrition and 2 years experience providing medical nutrition
therapy for diabetes, especially carbohydrate counting and SMBG. |
 |
Ability to relate to individuals of a
wide range in a close personal, recreational/educational setting. |
 |
Acceptance of the idea that the
management of diabetes is an essential goal while working with campers
and staff. |
 |
Good organizational skills. |
 |
Advanced knowledge of diabetes
management, insulin pump therapy, insulin to carbohydrate ratio, and
correction factor concepts. |
 |
Certified Diabetes Educator and/or
board certified specialist in Pediatric nutrition a plus |
 |
Medical liability
coverage. |

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES |
Plan and carry out
a program of nutrition assessment, diabetes education/medical
nutrition therapy plan development and oversee the provision of
appropriate, balanced meals and snacks for campers
|
|
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES |
 |
Pre-camp: provide nutrition/diabetes
education to counselors and new staff; develop camp menu and
coordinate items needed for food order with camp cook. |
 |
Train and supervise dietetic interns,
students and volunteers. |
 |
Oversee the provision of meals and
snacks during the camp session. |
 |
Develop meal plan cards for campers,
CITs, and counseling staff. |
 |
Coordinate with medical staff with
regard to diabetes management changes. |
 |
Oversee the provision of special diet
foods/plan special diet menus |
 |
Complete dietetic intern and student
evaluations. |
 |
Recruit volunteer dietary staff. |
 |
Arrange for all supplies needed to
provide routine diabetes care and first aid/medical care for campers
and staff. |
