represent the minimum standards that must be met by staff applicants
before being accepted as members of the Camp Carefree community. It
is expected that these will be the building blocks of a firm foundation

QUALIFICATIONS |

for children and life in the outdoors. |

At least 18 years of age.

Enthusiasm, sense

Ability to
consistently place the needs of the campers and the camp above
personal desires. |

Ability to clearly
communicate, actively listen and relate to campers and peers. |
 |
Specialized
knowledge and skill in one or more camp program areas. |
 |
Ability to
organize and conduct specific activities with campers in small and
large group situations. |
 |
Ability to accept
supervision and guidance. |

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES |

member of a team committed to the mission of Camp Carefree, which is:

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES |

Understand, accept
and interpret the mission of Camp Carefree. |
 |
Understand and
accept your role at camp, and do your part at all times. |
 |
Abide by Camp and ADA policies. |
 |
Channel concerns
to appropriate persons. |
 |
Offer suggestions
to solve problems rather than merely issue complaints. |
 |
Ensure a safe
environment (both mental and physical) for campers and staff. |
 |
Develop skills and
attitudes so as to do the best possible job. |
 |
Be willing to
learn as much about diabetes as possible, knowing you will never
master it all. |
 |
Make periodic
evaluations and reports. |
 |
Be ready to
actively assist and cooperate in an emergency situation immediately. |

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS |
 |
Ability to
communicate and work with campers from age 7-16 at all skill levels
and provide necessary instruction. |
 |
Ability to
interpret principles of diabetic management to campers with individual
needs. |
 |
Abilities to
observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce
appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply
appropriate behavior-management techniques. |
 |
Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond
to environmental and other hazards/situations related to the activities. |
 |
Ability to meet
the daily physical challenges of camp life, from activity assignments
to coping with potential emergency situations. |
