Promote use, enjoyment and safety of
the waterfront area. |
 |
Set up/review
Waterfront Rules and Emergency Action Plans early on in Pre-Camp.
These should be worked out with the Camp Director, Program Director
and experienced Waterfront Staff members. Camp Staff and campers
must be made fully aware of the rules and emergency procedures.
This should be explained and rehearsed with the entire staff during
Pre-Camp. |
 |
Test and classify
abilities of camp staff and campers. Utilize staff abilities to the
best advantage in carrying out the Waterfront programs. |
 |
Supervise camp
staff carrying out instruction and Lifeguard duties. |
 |
Daily check
waterfront conditions prior to breakfast to determine if any changes
need to be made in that day’s scheduled activities. |
 |
Consult with Camp
Director and Program Director relative to suggestions for improvements
in the Waterfront program and safety. |
 |
Bring any safety
concerns in writing to the attention of the Camp Director. Remedy
these safety concerns immediately where possible and make note
in writing of the corrections made and when completed. |
 |
Maintain swimming
record files. See that the American Red Cross record forms are
obtained, completed by the last Thursday in camp, turned into the
local American Red Cross chapter, cards are issued and given to the
campers on Awards Night (last Friday of camp).
|
 |
Facilitate the
copying of all Waterfront certification. Make sure certification file
is complete in Director's Office and Instructor authorizations are
extended/updated with the local American Red Cross chapter. |
